Happy belated birthday, Coach Franklin! Saturday could not have gone better for the head man.

Franklin had quite the birthday. The Lions head coach celebrated his big day by wrapping up a few commitments for himself in the form of 2020 prospects Joshuah Moten and Curtis Jacobs in 2020, and 2021 prospect Dont'e Thornton.

There was plenty of other action as well. Penn State hosted an elite group of 2020 recruits, as well as its top remaining 2019 target, Nick Cross, on an official visit. Here's everyone reported to have been on campus:

With the three commitments, Penn State created some serious momentum to possibly kick start the 2020 class, and Thornton is a tremendous first commitment for the 2021 class.

As we know, anytime Julian Fleming makes it to campus is a big deal. He, along with five-star defensive tackle Bryan Bresee, are the clear top two targets for Penn State in 2020. Any chance to further improve that relationship is a welcome sight.

The highlight of the weekend, arguably, was hosting Cross for his official visit. The Seminole commit is an elite safety and the staff was putting on the full-court press to try and flip him. The Nittany Lions arguably haven't seen an elite, all-around safety since Adrian Amos. Cross has all the tools to be a true difference maker roaming center field for the Lions' defense. If the staff pulls this one off, it'll be one of the biggest victories for James Franklin in the 2019 cycle.
