Following a stellar camp performance on Sunday, Penn State offered a scholarship to and received a commitment from Lackawanna College wide receiver Norval Black. The Germantown, Md., native just wrapped up his freshman year at Lackawanna and will be part of the 2020 recruiting class. When he arrives in State College, he will have three years to complete two seasons of eligibility. He totaled 15 catches for 445 yards and 5 tuddies with the Falcons.
Black joins a growing pipeline for James Franklin from Lackawanna. OL Anthony Whigan and DB Jaquan Brisker both went the JUCO route through northeastern Pennsylvania before landing in Happy Valley. Former Nittany Lion Paris Palmer also began his collegiate career at Lackawanna. Black was recently featured in a Washington Post article about players from the Capitol region getting a second chance at the Scranton-based junior college.
Penn State currently sits at 13 in 247Sports team rankings for the 2020 class. Sean Fitz has a breakdown of what led to Black's offer and commitment. Check it out.
