James Franklin accepted the commitment of junior college defensive back Ji'Ayir Brown (Scranton, PA) on Friday, continuing the recent, steady flow of players from Lackawanna College to State College.

Brown attended an elite skills camp at Penn State last weekend, and was so impressive, Franklin offered him a scholarship on the spot. It was the New Jersey native's first Power-5 offer, and apparently the only one he needed.

While patrolling the Falcons secondary with current Nittany Lion Jaquan Brisker last year, Brown totaled 40 tackles and snagged five interceptions. He'll have three years to play two once he arrives in Happy Valley as part of the 2020 class.

Brown had a stellar high school career at Trenton Central and garnered defensive MVP honors for the 2018 Phil Simms New Jersey North-South All-Star Football Classic. He intercepted two passes to help lead the South to a decisive 38-16 victory.

Brown first visited Penn State back in May with other Lackawanna teammates and coaches. He is currently rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports. His commitment moves the Nittany Lions to 23rd nationally in the team rankings with 10 commits.
