James Franklin capped a crazy Saturday with a blue-chip defensive lineman from one of the top high school programs in the nation. DeMatha DL Coziah Izzard became the 12th member of Penn State's 2020 class and second player from the Maryland powerhouse.

Izzard and the Nittany Lions have a relationship dating back nearly three years. He first visited Happy Valley for the legendary White Out victory over Ohio State in 2016.

The izzard File

  • Class: 2020
  • Size: 6-2/271 lbs
  • Pos: DL
  • School: DeMatha (Hyattsville, MD)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★★
  • Composite Rank: 245th overall (21st-ranked strong-side defensive end)

It seemed that the good guys were in the driver's seat for Izzard for some time based on the number of visits he made to State College, but he still entertained offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Virginia.

Izzard was originally at another Maryland football powerhouse in St. Vincent Pallotti, but transferred to DeMatha before last year. He joins teammate Golden Israel-Achumba as Stags-to-Lions in the 2020 class.

It's tough to keep track of who is actually in the 2020 Penn State class these days, but as of publication Izzard is the 12th member and the Nittany Lions currently sit at 17th in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
