Just days after losing a linebacker commit in Florida's Derek Wingo, Penn State has added one back into the 2020 class. Ashland, PA native Tyler Eldson has verbally committed to the Nittany Lions.
This one did not take very long. Eldson earned his scholarship offer just this past weekend at the annual White Out camp, and immediately put the Nittany Lions at the top of his list.
The ELDSON File
- Class: 2020
- Size: 6'2/220 lbs.
- Pos: ILB
- School: North Scuylkiill HS (Ashland, PA)
- Composite Rating: ★★★ (.8466)
- Composite Rank: No. 1126 overall, No. 45 ILB
Virginia was the most recent school to offer prior to Penn State. Maryland, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, and Louisville were the other Power Five programs to have extended their own scholarship offers, along with a litany of Ivy League schools, and a pair of service academies (Army, Air Force).
This weekend's camp performance was the second in six days for Eldson, who clearly was looking to make some noise for Brent Pry and the Nittany Lion coaching staff.
Eldson is commitment No. 13 for Penn State in the Class of 2020, and the fifth in the last four days. He joins four-star OLB prospect Curtis Jacobs as the latest standard bearers for Linebacker U.
The Nittany Lions class now ranks No. 19 nationally, and fourth in the Big Ten. The 13 member class, however, is tied with No. 1 ranked Ohio State for the smallest in the conference among the top six at this point.
