Penn State landed another member for its 2020 class on Monday with three-star linebacker/defensive end Zuriah Fisher.
Hailing from Aliquippa, PA, this recruitment felt like it would be a roller coaster solely for the fact that Penn State hasn't landed a player from Aliquippa in years, and the coaching staff and local community seem to be whole-heartedly against everything Penn State. James Franklin fought through that though and won Fisher's commitment after he officially visited for the Pitt game. Keeping Fisher away from Pitt and Michigan State is a big win for the Nittany Lions.
Speaking of the official visitors, Fisher wasn't the only one in attendance this past weekend. Elijah Gaines, a 2020 safety from Virginia, used an official visit to make his way to Happy Valley. Penn State has hit the state of Virginia hard the past few years as Virginia Tech has fallen off quite a bit and Gaines could be the next VA star to end up in State College.
On the regular visit front, Penn State had quite a few big names. A large group of Philadelphia stars made the trip, headlined by a few defensive stars in the 2021 class- four-star defensive end Elijah Jeudy, four-star safety Tysheem Johnson, and 2022 four-star defensive end Enai White. 2020 four-star wide receiver Zakee Wheatley also made his way up to Happy Valley.
The headliner of the entire group, though, was 2021 five-star offensive tackle Nolan Rucci. The Penn State legacy recruit and top-20 overall talent is the centerpiece of any group every time he makes it to campus. Rucci is exactly the kind of talent Penn State needs along the offensive lines given the never-ending struggles along the offensive fronts over the past few years. James Franklin will be putting all of his eggs into the basket with this one all the way to the 2021 National Signing Day.
