Four-star offensive lineman Landon Tengwall will announce his college decision on Thursday afternoon. The Maryland native will be choosing between Penn State and Notre Dame.
Tengwall had planned to officially visit both South Bend and Happy Valley this spring, but his plans have changed due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. He was still able to make a trip to Happy Valley this calendar year, visiting back in January to meet new offensive line coach Phil Trautwein.
The No. 45 player in the class of 2021, and the top player in Maryland, Tengwall has been high on Penn State's list for quite some time. He first visited during the 2017 season, before scoring an offer the following February. He's made more trips to State College than any other program.
While it's rare for true freshmen to get time along the line, Tengwall is an instant impact kind of player. Landing him would set the tone for an all-time offensive line class that already features Harrisburg's Nate Bruce, and has the Nittany Lions in a good position for five five-stars Nolan Rucci and Tristan Leigh.
Despite the current ban on any contact between teams and players, there has been a number of commitments recently all over the nation. Getting Tengwall on board now would be a huge momentum boost for Penn State's 2021 class, which currently has just two commitments, and ranks No. 46 nationally according to 247Sports.
The 247Sports Crystal Ball is heavily in favor of the Lions. That includes a pick from Roar Lions Roar Senior Editor Matt de Bear.
