Despite a last-second unofficial visit and an overnight stay to consider everything the Lions had to offer, Ohio tight end Jack Pugh decided to commit to Wisconsin over Penn State.
The four-star had long been considered a Badger lean and followed through on said leanings in the end. Penn State made a push at the end but it wasn't enough to overcome the longtime connection that had been built with Wisconsin.
As far as where Penn State goes from here, it still has plenty of lines in the water when it comes to a tight end for its 2021 recruiting class. In fact, James Franklin still has another shot to reel in a tight end this week, as Nevada four-star Moliki Matavao is set to announce his commitment on Wednesday, May 27. The Las Vegas product has yet to visit Happy Valley due to the pandemic but has built a strong relationship with position coach Tyler Bowen and could very well join the class by week's end. His 247Sports crystal ball currently reads 100% in favor of Oregon, but Penn State still has a shot.
Outside of Pugh and Matavao, the Lions are still in pursuit of four-star Brock Bowers and three-stars Lake McRee and Khalil Dinkins.
The Penn State class remains at 12 members and is still the 15th-ranked class in the country (6th in the Big Ten).
