Recruiting may be slow right now with prospects unable to visit schools, but Penn State continues to make some waves by being included in highly-rated recruits' lists of top schools. One of the staff's highest priority targets in 2021, quarterback Christian Veilleux, included the Lions in his list of top-four schools along with Duke, Clemson, and Tennessee.
Veilleux is a four-star prospect originally from Canada who is currently at The Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland. Veilleux is the 15th-rated pro-style quarterback in the 2021 class and the 13th-ranked player in the state of Maryland.
Veilleux last visited Happy Valley on February 1 for Junior Day. He visited Duke a week later. Perhaps the most notable non-Penn State inclusion on the list is Clemson, as he only received his offer from the Tigers on March 31.
Here's what Brian Dohn of 247Sports has to say about Veilleux.
Good frame and size. Pocket passer with mobility. Release is usually compact, especially on short throws. Ball comes out of hand freely. Accurate, particularly on short throws to edge and intermediate routes. Throws catchable ball with touch. Good footwork and base works in unison with arm. Gets through progressions. Plays composed. Drags ball a little at start of throwing motion. Improving arm strength will help on long throws. Adding strength will help. Sometimes relies more on touch than fully committing to throw. Has to learn to play under center. Multi-year starter at Top 20 program.
