Penn State's recent run of recruiting success has continued into another week. After landing three defensive backs to start the month of April, three-star cornerback Jeffrey Davis Jr. committed to the Nittany Lions on Friday afternoon.

Davis is a relatively recent addition to Penn State's board at cornerback, earning his offer in November of last year while making his first visit to Happy Valley.

The DAVIS Jr. File

  • Class: 2021
  • Size: 6'0/170 lbs.
  • Pos: CB
  • School: Kingswood-Oxford (West Hartford, CT)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★ (.8678)
  • Composite Rank: No. 529 overall, No. 39 cornerback

Also included in Davis' top-eight list (released on Easter Sunday) were Rutgers, Michigan, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Boston College, and Ivy League programs Princeton and Yale.

Like many players, Davis had planned on taking official visits this spring or summer to a number of those programs, including Penn State. Only the Lions, Boston College, and Rutgers had received unofficial visits, with a second trip to State College coming in early-February. However, commitments from three other defensive backs at the end of last week suddenly made space tight, likely leading to a sped-up timeline.

Davis, who plays both ways for Kingswood-Oxford, will bring plenty of athleticism to the Nittany Lion secondary. His bigger 6'0 frame should add an element of size that Terry Smith has coveted from many of his players too.

Penn State now holds commitments from a pair of cornerbacks, with Davis joining four-star prospect Kalen King. The overall class stands at eight members, good for No. 15 in the nation according to the 247Sports rankings.
