One of Penn State's top remaining targets in the 2021 recruiting class has set a commitment date. Four-star safety Derrick Davis Jr. (Monroeville, PA) will reveal his college destination of choice on November 7.

Back in mid-July, Davis named a top-7 group consisting of Penn State, Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, USC, and Georgia.

Davis has long been one of Penn State's top targets in the class, regardless of position. The four-star prospect is one of the most highly sought-after defensive backs in the country, and has a high interest in the Nittany Lions. James Franklin's team currently holds 90% of the predictions on the 247Sports Crystal Ball, including that of 247Sports Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong, and National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn.

Davis, who attends from Gateway High School has been one of the key targets in the class from the get-go. Should Penn State land his signature come signing day, it will be a major win for Franklin and his staff. Davis would become the second-highest rated player in the class and the highest-rated in-state commit. With Nolan Rucci committing to Wisconsin, Davis represents Penn State's best shot at nabbing a top-ten Pennsylvania recruit in what has been a strange and disappointing year for the staff within their own state lines.

Davis would be the second safety prospect in the class, along with four-star Michigan-native Jaylen Reed.
