After a visit-heavy June, Penn State offensive tackle commit Drew Shelton has shut down his recruitment and will shift his focus to helping the Nittany Lions build their 2022 class.

Shelton, a Pennsylvania native who is now playing at IMG Academy, felt like a very secure commit when he made his pledge to the Nittany Lions last summer. Since his transfer to IMG Academy, however, some other schools had begun to poke their nose and convince Shelton to explore his other options. Florida was the biggest threat to the Nittany Lions, as Gainsville is just about three hours away from IMG's campus. The Gators got Shelton on campus for an official visit but weren't able to convince the Downington native to spurn his hometown team.

Despite that visit to Gainesville, Shelton took an official visit to Happy Valley on June 18. He then, unexpectedly, made it back to campus just one week later on an unofficial to be around the rest of the 2022 commits and that was enough to seal the deal.

Shelton is the top-rated offensive line commit for Penn State and along with his base talent, will come in far more advanced and developed than most high school linemen due to his work at IMG. This will go down as one of James Franklin's biggest recruiting wins in the '22 Class.
