Penn State's Linebacker U tradition and a renewed focus on Philadelphia continue to pay dividends on the recruiting trail. Its latest addition comes by the way of Imhotep Academy three-star linebacker Keon Wylie.
Wylie was offered by the Penn State staff back in April of 2020 but due to the pandemic and associated dead period, did not make his way to campus until just last month on his official visit. That visit was key for the Nittany Lion staff, as it allowed them their first true opportunity to verify Wylie's athleticism and measurables in person.
The Wylie File

He held offers from Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Minnesota among others. This recruitment, however, came down to a battle between Penn State, Pitt, and Kentucky.
The talented linebacker has only taken three visits over his recruitment, all coming of the official variety once the 15-month dead period came to an end last month. He spent June traveling to Pitt, Kentucky, and Happy Valley. This recruitment was headlined by cornerbacks coach Terry Smith. Smith has been an integral piece in reestablishing the NIttany Lion program in Pennsylvania, and specifically in and around Philadelphia.
Wylie is commitment No. 14 for Penn State in the 2022 class, bringing the group to No. 7 in the nation.
