Penn State's Class of 2022 is growing once again, this time on the defensive side of the ball. Philadelphia four-star defensive end Ken Talley has verbally committed to the Nittany Lions.
Talley earned his Penn State offer in June of last year while attending a camp in Happy Valley. That was actually his second visit to State College of the month. He returned again for the Lions' 2019 season opener, as well as October's White Out win over Michigan. That visit would prove to be his last before making a decision, as the Covid-19 pandemic shut down recruiting in March. Prior to that, he was able to visit Maryland, West Virginia, Rutgers, and Tennessee.
The Talley File
- Class: 2022
- Size: 6-3/230
- Pos: DE/OLB
- School: Northeast (Philadelphia, PA)
- Composite Rating: ★★★★ (.9348)
- Composite Rank: No. 165 overall (No. 11 WDE)
Talley held offers from Penn State, Pitt, Baylor, Rutgers, Tennessee, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Michigan, among others. This battle came down to the Nittany Lions, Sun Devils, and Volunteers as Talley announced those programs as his final three prior to his announcement.
Talley has strong ties to Penn State. Former Northeast and Penn State star defensive end Deion Barnes returned to Northeast in recent years as the defensive coordinator. Barnes joined James Franklin's coaching staff earlier this year as a graduate assistant, and was a key asset in landing Talley.
Ken Talley the sixth commit in the 2022 class, but the first on the defensive side of the ball. He is also the third Pennsylvania native to join the class, along with York quarterback Beau Pribula, and Downingtown offensive tackle Drew Shelton. The class remains third overall in the nation.
