Penn State has added another defensive back to its 2022 recruiting class, with three-star cornerback Jordan Allen making the pick for the Nittany Lions.
Allen picked up his Penn State offer in January 2021, around the time the talented cornerback also picked up offers from Miami, Georgia, and Michigan. He visited the Hurricanes and the Louisville Cardinals in June and was expected to visit the Nittany Lions, but was unable to make the trip due to a family emergency.
The Allen File
- Class: 2022
- Size: 6'0/182
- Pos: CB
- School: Lafayette Christian Academy (Lafayette, LA)
- Composite Rating: ★★★ (.8789)
- Composite Rank: No. 23 in Louisiana (No. 494 overall)
This recruitment was a Terry Smith special all the way, with Penn State's cornerback's coach taking the lead. Smith has done a great job convincing corners from outside of Penn State's traditional recruiting footprint to come to Happy Valley, with fellow southerners Grant Haley and Amani Oruwariye being some of the most notable.
At 6'0, Allen isn't the biggest corner James Franklin has recruited, but he's able to get his hand on a lot of passes thanks to a 73" wingspan. He already does a good job reading the quarterback's eyes and knows how to make a play on the ball. He'll also add value on special teams thanks to some solid skills in the return game.
Allen is commit No. 20 for the Nittany Lions and becomes the first cornerback in their 2022 recruiting class. The group once again ranks No. 2 nationally according to 247Sports, just ahead of Notre Dame.
