With the long, hard fight for his verbal commitment now complete, Penn State has finally added offensive tackle Andre Roye to the 2022 recruiting class.

Since earning his Nittany Lion offer back in early February of 2021, Roye has been a familiar name within the world of Penn State recruiting. The Lions had to fight hard with the likes of Mike Locksley at Maryland and Greg Schiano at Rutgers to earn his pledge, but James Franklin won out in the end.

The Roye File

  • Class: 2022
  • Size: 6'6/320 lbs.
  • Pos: OT
  • School: St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★ (0.8566)
  • Composite Rank: #79 OT

Aside from those three, Roye also held offers from NC State, Arizona State, Baylor, Boston College, Michigan, Pitt, Temple, and Tennessee.

It was a busy summer for Roye, as he took official visits to Rutgers, Maryland, Arizona State, and Penn State. He then made follow-up unofficial visits a month later to Piscataway, College Park, and State College

Roye is the No. 884 player in the 2022 recruiting class and the No. 23 player in the state of Maryland. His commitment gives Penn State 25 players in its 2022 class and keeps them at the top of the current team rankings with the No. 1 class in the country.
