Though not one of the very highest-rated members of the 2022 recruiting class, defensive lineman Zane Durant is one of the highlights of the upcoming Penn State group of commits. He's back that up on the field this fall, as he has set a new single-season sack record for Lake Nona High School...in just seven games.

Durant is a four-star commit per the 247SportsComposite rankings and the No. 297 player overall in the class. However, if he is able to continue getting after the quarterback like this, that ranking will be a funny thing to look back on in a few years.
Durant, while representing part of the strong group of defensive linemen in the class, is also yet another success story for Penn State's recruiting efforts in Florida. Convincing a kid to leave the warm, sunny days of their home state in favor of spending half of the year in the cold Happy Valley winter can't be easy, but running backs coach and Florida-native Ja'Juan Seider and defensive line coach John Scott Jr. were able to do just that. Continually expanding the recruiting footprint for the Nittany Lions into the sunshine state is an important task, and Durant is the next step of that process.
Durant is one of four defensive linemen in Penn State's 3rd-ranked class, joining four-stars Dani Dennis-Sutton, Ken Talley, and three-star Kaleb Artis.
