Penn State commit Vega Ioane

With the traditional National Signing Day now underway, three-star offensive lineman Vega Ioane has committed to Penn State, giving the Nittany Lions one final piece to their 2022 recruiting class.

Ioane, a Washington native, is a one-time University of Washington commit, and was long expected to rejoin the Huskies class. However, a trip to Happy Valley this past weekend was enough to change his mind. He picked up his Penn State offer just over two weeks ago.

The Ioane File

  • Class: 2022
  • Size: 6'4/320
  • Pos: OL
  • School: Graham-Kapowsin (Graham, WA)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★ (.8756)
  • Composite Rank: No. 26 interior offensive lineman (No. 573 nationally)

Ioane held offers from some of the biggest schools west of the Mississippi, including BYU, USC, and UCLA. He also visited Minnesota in December.

At 6'4, 320, Ioane has great size for a player his age, but he's still going to need to get his body right when he arrives on campus. He played tackle for the majority of his high school career but will likely slide into a guard role moving forward.

With the way Penn State's offensive line has performed for the better part of a decade, you can never take too many bites out of the apple. Ioane likely won't push for time early in his career, but his size makes him a high-ceiling prospect.

Penn State's 2022 class sits at No. 6 nationally and second in the Big Ten, trailing Ohio State.
