Three-star Penn State OL commit Anthony Donkoh

On the eve of Penn State's second major recruiting weekend of the month, the Nittany Lions have picked up a commitment from the first. Three-star offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh out of Virginia is the latest addition to the Class of 2023.

Phil Trautwein and Penn State offerered Donkoh in early-December. West Virginia followed the following week. Virginia Tech and Duke had both offered back in April and June of 2021 respectively under each program's previous coaching staff. But after a visit to Happy Valley just two weeks ago, it certainly seems as if the Nittany Lions quickly became the team to beat.

The Donkoh File

  • Class: 2023
  • Size: 6'5, 310 lbs.
  • Pos: OL
  • School: Lightridge (Aldie, VA)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★ (.8678)
  • Composite Rank: No. 31 OL, No. 455 overall

That January 15 visit to State College marked his only known visit to campus, and is the only reported visit to any campus at this point.

That visit, however, was crucial for Trautwein and the Nittany Lion coaching staff. It allowed them a chance to verify Donkoh's 6'5, 310-pound size, and determine whether he's better suited for tackle, or the interior line at the next level. The general thinking is that Donkoh will start his career on the outside.

Donkoh is the seventh member of the Class of 2023, and the third offensive lineman. He joins five-star Alex Birchmeier, and three-star Joshua Miller. The overall class ranks No. 4 nationally.
