Penn State's annual Blue-White weekend was sweet enough given that the team got the chance to get onto the Beaver Stadium field and play in front of the fans, but the festivities were made even sweeter by the Monday commitment from safety Conrad Hussey.

Hussey visited in early April and apparently saw everything he needed to see to commit to the Nittany Lions. The Florida product ended up choosing to make Happy Valley his future home, passing up on offers from Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Utah, among others.

The Hussey File

  • Class: 2023
  • Size: 6'0/190 lbs.
  • Pos: S
  • School: St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★ (0.8763)
  • Composite Rank: #43 Safety

The Penn State coaching staff has done more and more to grow its footprint in the sunshine state in recent years with running backs coach Ja'Juan Seider leading the charge. Adding Hussey is yet another great win in that regard, but perhaps one even better than most given that Hussey hails from one of the better high school programs in the country – St. Thomas Aquinas.

Hussey may not yet have the blue-chip status that one might expect, but a big senior year for the safety could easily push him into the four-star threshold among the major recruiting services. At 6'0 and 190 pounds, he already has very good size for a defensive back, which should allow him to fight for playing time early once he arrives on campus.

The new Lion shows a great ability to read opposing quarterbacks' eyes and make quick breaks on the football. He also has some juice as a kick returner and could get himself involved early on special teams at the very least.

Hussey is the second defensive back to join the class, along with cornerback Lamont Payne. He becomes the 11th member of the 2023 class which currently ranks No. 4 on the 247Sports Team Composite rankings.

Welcome to Penn State, Conrad.
