It's commonplace to see Penn State football recruit players who are multiple-sport high school athletes. James Franklin and his staff love athletes with lots of versatility, and oftentimes those are the guys who star in two or even three sports for their respective high schools.
One of those multi-sport stars in the 2017 recruiting class is Mac Hippenhammer. The Indiana-native was a three-year varsity baseball letter winner for Snider High School, and will now continue his career on the diamond at Penn State.
James Franklin acknowledged that it will be a challenge for Hippenhammer to balance both sports, but stands by his new receiver in his quest to do it all.
WR commit Mac Hippenhammer wants to play baseball at Penn State as well. JF said it will be a challenge but one he supports.— Erin McCarthy (@ErinMcPSU) February 1, 2017
Don't forget about those Diamond Lions. They're a fun team, and will be made even more fun by Hippenhammer's presence.
