The biggest drama of today's National Signing Day for Penn State has revolved around whether or not four-star safety Nick Cross would flip from Florida State to the Nittany Lions. According to a report from 247Sports' Steve Wiltfong, that drama will play out past today as Cross is not expected to sign.
Was just told by a source at Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha that Top247 CB Nick Cross is not expected to sign today. Currently committed to #FSU also considering #PennState and #Maryland: https://t.co/fSFoJ98btP

Cross committed to the Seminoles in early-September of 2018, and appeared to be a lock to head to Tallahassee. However, he did not sign during December's early period, and took visits to Georgia, and Penn State at the end of January. The Maryland native and DeMatha Catholic star also has close ties to the Maryland program, with longtime DeMatha head coach Elijah Brooks joining the Terrapin program under Mike Locksley.
It was expected that Cross would make a final decision today and sign with one of those programs, with the Seminoles, Nittany Lions, and Terps apparently the three finalists. That, however, appears to be off for now.
There is no reason for any player to rush a decision if they are not certain. Division I football players can sign their Letters of Intent all the way up until April 1.
