KeAndre Lambert-Smith was one of the biggest recruiting wins of 2020 for James Franklin. At one point, it seemed like Lambert was destined for Clemson, or maybe Ohio State, but the Nittany Lions were able to convince the Virginia native to head North.

RLR's Take

Lambert-Smith is one of the most sound receivers in his class. Frankly, the only thing he's missing is that he's not the most physically imposing prospect, at least at this point, checking in at just 176 pounds. Besides that, he could come in and be Penn State's most talented receiver. He has outstanding agility in and out of his breaks, runs great routes, and can track a deep ball. Given the relative struggles of the current receivers, save for KJ Hamler, it will be a welcome sight to have a receiver with a skillset like Lambert's.

He has run a verified 4.50 40-yard dash, and his 3.83 shuttle time would rank near the top of the NFL Combine most years.

Moving Forward

The only things holding Lambert-Smith back from being a given to play immediately is that we don't yet know how some receiver roster turnover will shake out, and he needs to add some size to compete with college DBs. If Hamler does in fact declare for the draft and Justin Shorter follows through with his transfer, it's likely Lambert-Smith will have an opportunity to earn some early playing time from the start, if he can get there physically.
