The country of Canada has been very good to the Nittany Lions over the last few years, with players like Jonathan Sutherland, Daniel Joseph, and Jesse Luketa all hailing from the Great White North. Malick Meiga makes up one half of the 2020 class's members from north of the border.

RLR's Take

Potential gets thrown around all the time this time of year, and this Penn State class in particular is full of it. Perhaps no player epitomizes that as much as Meiga. His raw testing numbers scream elite player, but his high school career in Montreal will mean a big learning curve as he adjusts to major American college football.

But man, if you could design a wide receiver, he has plenty of the traits you look for. He ran a verified 4.42 40-yard dash at The Opening Regional in May, where he also ran a 4.08 shuttle, and turned in a 35.8" vertical. He will need to add plenty of strength, but Dwight Galt has to be thrilled at the natural ability Meiga brings to the table, and the kind of work he'll be able to do with him.

Moving Forward

Penn State needs help at wide receiver, but it won't be coming from Meiga in 2020. The transition from high school to college is tough enough at the position, but adding in the massive leap in competition from Quebec to the Big Ten will be too much to overcome in year one. To be honest, anything Penn State gets from Meiga before 2022 would be a bonus.
