RLR's Take

A defensive end in high school, Izzard has a rare blend of speed and explosiveness for someone his size. A remarkably smart player, he's quickly able to diagnose where plays are heading and stop runners in their tracks. He plays very close to the line of scrimmage, halting players for little or no gain with consistency. Izzard plays with a relentless motor and has fantastic closing speed to help limit big plays. He's the kind of player who you can line up anywhere along the defensive line and know he's going to cause problems.

Moving Forward

It's hard for defensive linemen to see the field as true freshmen, especially when they have some bulking up to do and a new position to learn. Izzard has a good chance to appear in his four games, but no matter how well he performs it's hard to see the staff burning his redshirt with eight scholarship defensive tackles ahead of him.

A year under Dwight Galt would do wonders for Izzard as he starts to add weight to his 6'3 frame. It will also allow him to learn the ins and outs of an entirely new position at his own pace. He should be a regular contributor in the 2021 season and push for a starting job as early as his redshirt sophomore season.
