Bryce Mostella made the call for Penn State by creating one of the greatest commitment videos in the history of college football recruiting. He is a three-star defensive end from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and finished the season as an honorable mention all-area player. He plans to enroll in January.

Bryce Mostella
Position: Weak-side defensive end
Height/Weight: 6'7/235 lbs.
High School: East Kentwood (Grand Rapids, MI)

RLR's Take

Mostella is a prospect in the same vein as Jayson Oweh, Smith Vilbert, and Joseph Darkwa, where the staff sees huge, raw, untapped potential. He is probably more Vilbert and Darkwa than Oweh, but the raw talent is certainly there.

He has a massive, but skinny frame, and a year or more with Dwight Galt will completely change him. He has great speed and his size allows him to cover a lot of ground quickly. Once he gets up to par physically, the sky is the limit with his raw ability.

Moving Forward

One true freshman defensive end has seen the field for Penn State each of the last two seasons, so James Franklin and Sean Spencer are open to early playing time. However, with seven players currently on the depth chart ahead of him, lack of size, and his technique still very raw, expect Mostella to redshirt with a possibility of some run in a 2020 blowout.
