Penn State has been right in the thick of things with several highly-regarded prospects out of New York City in the past few years, but have had some trouble landing their guy from the Empire State's flagship city. With Ibrahim Traore, though, they finally got their man.

RLR's Take

Something that the Penn State coaching staff has proven to be adept at since James Franklin took over in Happy Valley, is identifying underrated talent at their on-campus, or satellite camps. That's exactly how the staff found Traore, so they know exactly what they're getting with the 6'5 beast from Frederick Douglas in NYC.

Traore keeps his hands a bit high on his defenders, which is likely due to his ability to win with brute strength, but also the lack of competition at his eye level. As he competes with collegiate-sized linemen, and spends time with Matt Limegrover, that should improve. He shows a hunger to finish his blocks, which is the type of thing that endears you to your offensive line coach.

Moving Forward

As with most of this class of offensive linemen, Traore has size for days, but still needs to be molded into a Big Ten lineman. He's able to dominate opposing high school linemen, but will need to add weight in order to take on some of the better defensive linemen the college game has to offer.

Barring injuries, Traore will not see the field as a true freshman, aside from a few snaps in a blowout at some point along the way as a way to dip his toes into the water.
