According to a report by Tim Owen of BlueWhiteIllustrated, Nassau JUCO transfer DT Tyrell Chavis is cleared to enroll at Penn State and participate in fall camp. The beefy tackle committed to PSU on February 2 and signed his letter of intent the following day. However, questions about his eligibility lingered throughout the summer when he didn't enroll with the rest of the 2016 class.

The Richmond, Va. native was ranked the #41 JUCO player in the nation by 247Sports and the #4 defensive tackle. He began his career at Virginia before transferring to Nassau. Chavis brings much needed experience and size to a DT unit that lost two dominant starters to the NFL. On signing day in February, he checked in at 6'3/295.
