In an article from the Altoona Mirror on Thursday, Sandy Barbour was quoted giving Penn State head football coach James Franklin a vote of confidence.
A lot of Penn State fans, rightly or wrongly, were very upset following the Nittany Lions' brutal loss to Michigan in the team's 2016 Big Ten opener, which led to more and more people voicing the opinion that they should move on from Coach Franklin. Those voices started to become shouts when Les Miles was officially put on the open market following his removal from the LSU head coach job.
Barbour pointed out Franklin's merits in a broad sense as well as his football acumen.
"I think I've been really, really clear on I think he's doing a spectacular job as a teacher, as a coach, as a leader of these young men," she said. "That's really, really important to Penn State. He and his staff are absolutely nailing that."
