Hi hello, so Penn State beat Iowa on Saturday night. It was a comprehensive ass whooping, the kind of thing you expect a top-10 team to do to a solid but not great squad that runs an offense that would have been perfect in 1991.
We'll do more in-depth analysis of the game over the coming days, but I need to talk about this video with someone. It features Penn State football participating in the mannequin challenge in the locker room after the game. The challenge involves standing around frozen. It's fun.
Penn State's had an added element to it – everyone stood frozen during the intro to Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles," which I believe should be the National Anthem of the United States of America. Then, as the beat dropped, everyone went wild. We know this because Amani Oruwariye tweeted out the video.
This is, we all agree, the best video of all-time. We got another angle of the video from Penn State football. This video shows us that James Franklin was prominently involved in this, which tells me that James Franklin is aware of the mannequin challenge and "Black Beatles" by Rae Sremmurd, which I believe is grounds for a lifetime contract extension.
Now that we have gotten this far, let's rank the five-best things about these videos:
5) Locker room celebration videos are the best things
Penn State has always done locker room celebration videos well – "THEY SAID THAT WE WERE 24-POINT UNDERDOGS" is getting put on my gravestone – but this one is extra great. If someone made a five hour-long video of locker room celebrations across college football I'd watch it at least a dozen times.
4) saeed blacknall
Look at the Penn State football video right before the beat dropped. Look at the pure joy on Blacknall's face as he's staring at Franklin. He was so happy! We can't blame him – he scored Penn State's first touchdown of the day after completely roasting one of the best defensive backs in college football. It was a real crowd pleaser.
3) "black beatles" is a banger
It is a fantastic song and the fact that the Nittany Lion football team has embraced this so much makes me really happy. Here's the full song. It includes Gucci Mane.
In a way, "I had haters when I was broke / I'm rich / I still got haters" perfectly describes Penn State football, no?
2) They stopped celebrating after a football game to all stand still so they could make a video that went viral
Just think, everyone was probably sore and tired after the win, but someone said "guys, let's do a Mannequin Challenge video, like, right now." And everyone went along with it! And it ended up blowing up! I love this team.
1) Nick Scott
No one else has ever been this happy ever. Go State.
