Penn State's offensive turnaround has been one of the great storylines of the 2016 college football season. The tuddies have been plentiful, in large part because of OC Joe Moorhead's new up-tempo attack. According to reports, at least one program had some interest in bringing tuddies to their offense:
Purdue got deal done w Brohm; sources tell us if they hadnt next man up was likely to be Penn State OC Joe Moorhead https://t.co/HJBnEMOONQ— FootballScoop Staff (@FootballScoop) December 5, 2016
The Boilermakes have their man in former Hilltoppers head coach Jeff Brohm, but if Purdue was looking to relive the glory years of the Tiller era and adopt a more spread-focused offense, Moorhead would also have made a ton of sense.
This is almost certainly not the last time we'll hear Moorhead's name attached to coaching vacancies, so buckle up.
Of course, Penn State could just announce that Franklin extension that's been in the works for a while, complete with an increased assistant salary pool, and put any speculation to rest.
We'll be sure to share any other rumors involving the Nittany Lions' coaching staff as we find them.
