Marcus Allen Named to the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List

Another day, another watch list for senior safety Marcus Allen. This time, it is the Jim Thorpe Award, awarded annually to the top defensive back in the nation. Allen has also been named to the Lott IMPACT Trophy, the Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy watch lists.

In 2016, Allen led Penn State in tackles, the first safety to do so since James Boyd tallied 109 in 2000. He was also selected to the All-Big Ten third team by the coaches last season. Allen's signature play came on October 22nd vs. Ohio State when he blocked Tyler Durbin's field goal attempt that Grant Haley returned for a touchdown.

After exploring the NFL, Allen returned to the Nittany Lions and will the the anchor a talented secondary. He has wracked up 249 tackles in his career, 13 of which were for a loss, two sacks, and he has yet to intercept a pass.
