Ficken has two prior NFL preseason stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New Orleans Saints, but has yet to kick in a regular season game. In 2015, he was invited to the Chiefs minicamp before being cut. After a rockey start to his Penn State career, but Ficken grew into one of the Big Ten's most reliable kickers.
In his final year with the Nittany Lions, Ficken finished 24 of 29 on field goal attemps. His career was capped with a game winning extra point to defeat Boston College in the 2014 Pinstripe Bowl.
