One of the more notable storylines of any coaching change is the impact that will have on recruiting. A coach leaves one program where he has a deep knowledge of one class, and arrives to another where he is likely unfamiliar with most of the committed prospects. As we saw when James Franklin was hired at Penn State, the urge to bring some of those known quantities with you is as strong as the relationships that have been built up over several years.
That will not be the case with Joe Moorhead and Mississippi State.
Moorhead says he won't go after any recruits already committed to Penn State. "I'm not gonna do that." Going all in on MSU's commits and targets.— Bob Carskadon (@bobcarskadon) November 30, 2017
That may be especially surprising in light of The Athletic report that Penn State running backs coach Charles Huff is joining Moorhead in Starkville. The latter has been an instrumental part of Penn State's recruiting efforts, but it appears that none of the 22 committed players in the 2018 recruiting class will be heading south to the SEC.
