Brent Pry's name was floated a few years back in connection with the Georgia Southern head coaching job. Pry ended up staying in Happy Valley, and leading a much-improved defense in the 2017 regular season.

But according to FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman, Penn State's second-year defensive coordinator is a hot name for another head coach opening down south: the top job at Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Cajuns fired Mark Hudspeth following three consecutive seven-loss seasons in Lafayette. Pry was an assistant coach at ULL from 2002-2006.

Pry replaced Bob Shoop as the Nittany Lions' defensive coordinator after Bob Shoop left for Tennessee after the 2015 season.

If Pry were to depart, head coach James Franklin would have to replace another coordinator. Former offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead departed for the head job at Mississippi State last week; Franklin replaced Moorhead with Ricky Rahne.
