Penn State running back Saquon Barkley was awarded the Chicago Tribune Silver Football award, honoring the best player in the Big Ten Conference.

With this year's honor, Barkley becomes only the fifth two-time winner of the award since it was first presented to Red Grange in 1924. Other two-time winners include Paul Giel (1952-53), Archie Griffin (1973-74), Anthony Thompson (1988-89), and Braxton Miller (2012-13).

Barkley received nine of the possible 13 first-place votes as coaches cannot vote for their own players, as well as two second-place votes.

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett came in second for total votes for the award, followed by Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor.
