The end of the college football season always brings about a rash of articles looking ahead to the following season. Sure, the next meaningful game is nearly eight months down the road, but what better time to look ahead than the dead of winter. That of course includes betting odds on the 2018 Heisman Trophy.

Coming off of a 4,061 all-purpose yard, 39 touchdown season, Penn State signal caller Trace McSorley is among Sports Betting Dime's second favorites for the award at 14-1. He's joined by Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor, and Georgia speedster (and Pennsylvania native) De'Andre Swift. Those three sit just behind the Bulldogs' talented quarterback Jake Fromm, the early favorite at 10-1.

This will be the second straight offseason a Nittany Lion gets plenty of attention for the sport's most prestigious individual award. For a number of reasons, McSorley may be an even better candidate for the award than Saquon Barkley was at this time a year ago.

Penn State opens the 2018 season against Appalachian State in 234 days. Kickoff time is to be determined.
