Are you ready to argue over something meaningless? Penn State is ranked 9th in the 2018 preseason Amway Coaches Poll released though USAToday. Though officially not considered, polls still can be influential in shaping the playoff committee's perception as the season progresses.

The Nittany Lions are one of of five Big Ten schools in the top 15, joining Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Michigan (cool divisions, Delany!). Penn State was ranked sixth in the preseason Coaches Poll last season. Mississippi State, led by former Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead, is ranked 18th. Let the bickering and bantering commence. The season is nearly here.
