It's official, the nine-game conference schedule is here to stay with the Big Ten releasing its conference schedule for 2022 through 2025.

Notable:

  • Illinois replaces Iowa as the Nittany Lions' dedicated West Division cross over opponent.
  • Penn State will open its season with a conference game in 2022 second straight season, traveling to West Lafayette to meet Purdue. The Lions head to Madison in 2021 to open the season against the Badgers. 1993 and 1994 (Minnesota) are the only other years the season opened with a league game.
  • Each season features a rough patch: 2022 the Lions host Ohio State before traveling to Michigan in back to back weeks. 2023 has trips to Michigan State and Ohio State in consecutive weeks. 2024 features Ohio State, at Michigan, at Iowa, and Michigan State in a row. 2025 ends with consecutive games at Ohio State, home to Michigan, and at Michigan State. Woof.
  • Penn State will add another game for 2024, and two more games for 2022, 2023, and 2025.
