Notes

  • The starter at the H-receiver is now Brandon Polk OR DeAndre Thompkins. Thompkins had been listed as the first-stringer in the two 2018 depth charts released to this point, with Polk as his backup. Thompkins took a punt back to the house against Pitt, but struggled as a receiver, dropping three passes. Polk, on the other hand, hauled in two catches for 45 yards and a touchdown. Both will likely still play plenty against the Golden Flashes, though both are also in line to face some stiff competition for that top spot once five-star true freshman Justin Shorter is healthy.
  • Will Fries is now the sole starter at right tackle. He and Chasz Wright previously shared the top spot. As noted in our snap counts from the Pitt game, Fries was the clear starter against the Panthers, out-snapping Wright 66-2.
  • Despite missing the entirety of the Pitt game, John Reid is still listed as the starter at cornerback opposite Amani Oruwariye. There's still no word as to what held Reid out on Saturday, whether it be injury or fatigue, but the likelihood of getting a firm update on his status on Tuesday during James Franklin's press conference is probably low.
  • Micah Parsons out-snapped Koa Farmer on Saturday, but the true freshman is still listed as the second string WIL linebacker. Parsons may have also picked up an injury on Saturday, the seriousness of which is still unclear.
  • Shane Simmons still isn't appearing at defensive end, nor is the aforementioned Shorter at receiver. Shorter seems to be getting closer and closer to a return, as he was in uniform vs. Pitt, while Simmons's situation is shrouded in a bit more mystery.
  • Though he didn't appear against Pitt, Tommy Stevens is stil llisted as the backup quarterback and starter at the LION position. At the end of Saturday's game when the backups finally entered, it was Sean Clifford who relieved Trace McSorley of his position.
