On Friday, Penn State announced that former Heisman Trophy winner John Cappelletti will be the honorary captain for the game against Kent State. The game kicks off at noon, but from 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM, there will be a photo opportunity by the South Tunnel of Beaver Stadium.
In 1973, Cappelletti became Penn State’s lone Heisman Trophy winner after rushing for 1,522 yards and 17 touchdowns. His acceptance speech will never be forgotten as he dedicated the award to his younger brother Joey who was battling childhood leukemia. Cappelletti’s number 22 was retired in 2013 and is the only Penn State jersey retired in any sport.
