On the heels of Friday's 63-24 victory over Illinois, the Nittany Lions are holding strong in the top-10 of both major polls. Penn State remains at No. 9 in the Coaches Poll, and moves up one spot to No. 9 in the latest AP Poll.

Saturday's opponent, the Ohio State Buckeyes, check in at No. 4 in each. With the release of these rankings, that officially makes the game the first Beaver Stadium matchup of top-10 teams since the 1999 season opener between No 3 Penn State and No. 4 Arizona. This will also be the second straight meeting of the two Big Ten powers with both among the top-10 in each poll.

Three more Big Ten teams appear in each poll. The coaches rank Wisconsin No. 13, Michigan No. 15, and Michigan State No. 18. The AP ranks each at Nos. 15, 14, and 21 respectively.

Alabama remains the consensus top team in both, with Clemson and Georgia rounding out the top-three in each. The Bulldogs are No. 2 in the AP, with the Tigers sliding in at second in the Coaches. Of note to Penn State fans, the Nittany Lions' opening game opponent Appalachian State received votes in the Coaches poll, earning 25 points.
