We're baaaaaack. Here's how we feel about all the various bowl projections for Penn State from around the web.

7. jerry palm - CBS Sports, Jason Kirk - SB Nation

  • Citrus Bowl - Camping World Stadium, Orlando, Fla. - Jan. 1, 2019, 1 p.m. EST (ABC)
  • Penn State vs. Kentucky

RLR take: Mehhhh. It's isn't a mark against the game, but playing Kentucky does nothing for me as a fan. The Lions and Wildcats last met on Jan. 1, 1999 in the Outback bowl, which is about as forgettable as this game would likely be.

6. brad crawford - 247sports

  • TaxSlayer Bowl - TIAA Bank Field, Jacksonville, Fla. - Dec. 31, 2018, 7:30 p.m. EST (ESPN)
  • Penn State vs. Texas A&M

RLR take: This is the lowest projected bowl for the Lions, so that definitely hurts the rating. The Aggies' spot here, or in any Florida bowl, is pretty tenuous based on their remaining schedule. They get upstart UAB and LSU at home. Another loss, and they'll likely be heading elsewhere.

5. bill bender - The sporting news

  • Citrus Bowl - Camping World Stadium, Orlando, Fla. - Jan. 1, 2019, 1 p.m. EST (ABC)
  • Penn State vs. Florida

RLR take: Now this is more like it as far as opponents go. Penn State is 0-3 against the Gators all-time, and all in Florida-based bowl games. The last shot the Nittany Lions had at the Gators was a disgusting game on Jan. 1, 2011. These teams are likely to be among the final squads considered for the NY6, so either could get bounced from this spot quickly.

4. brett mcmurphy - stadium

  • Outback Bowl - Raymond James Stadium, Tampa Fla. - Jan 1, 2019, 12 p.m. EST (ESPN2)
  • Penn State vs. Texas A&M

RLR take: Purely from a style perspective, I'd be a bit more interested in Jimbo Fisher's Aggies than Dan Mullen's Gators, but it's splitting hairs, really. Tampa has breweries, Orlando has Disney, and see above regarding A&M's shaky hold on a Florida bowl.

3. mitch sherman - espn

  • Playstation Fiesta Bowl - State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Ariz. - Jan. 1, 2019, 1 p.m. EST (ESPN)
  • Penn State vs. UCF

RLR take: YO! Back in the big time. From all accounts, Penn State wowed Fiesta Bowl reps, and they'd love the Lion faithful back in the desert. The Knights are fun as heck, but there are still the undertones of disrespect and claiming national championships, etc, etc. There are just two games I'd rather see than this one.

2. joe tansey - bleacher report, eric single - Sports illustrated

  • Outback Bowl - Raymond James Stadium, Tampa Fla. - Jan 1, 2019, 12 p.m. EST (ESPN2)
  • Penn State vs. Mississippi State

RLR take: We can all wax poetic about how Penn State's offensive savior set off to the south to blaze his own trail. This game would be a coaching staff love fest, and a darn good game too. But honestly, I just want to see JoMo on the sidelines and Penn State on the field again.

1. Kyle Bonagura - ESPN

  • Playstation Fiesta Bowl - State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Ariz. - Jan. 1, 2019, 1 p.m. EST (ESPN)
  • Penn State vs. West Virginia

RLR take: Avalanche of points. Will Grier can absolutely light it up, and the Mountaineers aren't exactly the Monsters of the Midway on defense. I believe this would be by far the most exciting matchup for Penn State. The venue is A+, the opponent is a traditional rival the Lions haven't played since 1992, and the talent on display would be offensively dazzling. I am here for it.
