Don't @ Me: A Look at James Franklin's Twitter Mentions vs. Maryland

Penn State blew out Maryland 38-3 in the regular season finale on Saturday and for the first time in a while, the game never felt like it was in doubt. Penn State struck first after a four-play touchdown drive and never looked back. It was a proper sendoff to the seniors and after weeks of feeling inevitable doom, this one was pretty low-stress. I've been sifting through the wreckage of James Franklin's Twitter mentions for weeks now, but here's a look at them as Penn State finishes the 2018 season with a 9-3 record.

The day started off good as Penn State landed a 2020 commit in offensive tackle Grant Toutant.

There has been some speculation that USC may come after James Franklin and though the Twitter mentions usually don't show, many fans want him to stick around.

That extra point would have put Penn State up 13 and after Ohio State scored, they likely would not have gone for two and kicked and extra point to win by the same margin.

The weather wasn't the only downer heading into the game.

True statement. Michigan laid it on Penn State this season, but the fact remains.

Speculation upon speculation here, but the End-Gamer has seen enough.

Penn State took a 17-3 lead into the break. I don't mind the passes, but those fade routes can take a hike in my opinion.

A fun razzle-dazzle hook and ladder to end the half resulted in a stat padding play, but it was still worth a shot.

Several tweets suggested that James Franklin look at a Kliff Kingsbury as a new offensive coordinator.

As the ABC crew showed shots of their camera workers, James Franklin pulled Trace McSorley from the game so he could get the recognition he rightfully earned from the fans who braved the weather.

TOM!!! After venting his frustrations last week during the Rutgers game, Tom was much more pleased with the effort against Maryland.

The valley was happy once again.

See, spirits were high after a win... oh wait, I may have jumped the gun.

I think auto-correct allowed me to show this tweet.

Some of the memories will sting from this season, but it was great to see the seniors go out in style.

Time flies and it's hard to believe the regular season has come to and end. In a year where Penn State had to replace a lot of talent, they still finished with a 9-3 record. There will be a lot of "what ifs" this season, but Penn State has a chance at a 10th win for the third straight season, and that's nothing to scoff at.

Thanks for joining me each week on this fruitless endeavor, but it's been fun. After the bowl game concludes and as the offseason turns, I will be back to check in on James Franklin's Twitter mentions because I am a glutton for punishment. Thank you to anyone who tweeted at the head coach because it's kept this nonsense going.
