Just in case you needed another reminder that no one really knows what to expect from Penn State in 2019, ESPN ranked the Lions No. 15 in its preseason poll.

Most optimistic fans will think that is far too low, and most doubters will say it's probably too high. If not for these points of conversation, preseason polls would be even more worthless than they already are. ESPN and writer Tom VanHaaren capture this sentiment in the blurb about the Nittany Lions.

This will be an interesting season for the Nittany Lions, who are now without quarterback Trace McSorley and running back Miles Sanders. Luckily for Penn State, the defense is stout, and returning leading tackler Micah Parsons is primed to take a step forward in his sophomore season. If the offense can find playmakers, this could be a sneaky team to watch

The good news, however, is that in just 26 days, we can finally begin to see just how accurate these preseason prognostications are.
