According to a statement issued Wednesday, Penn State has fired wide receivers coach David Corley. The swift action following the Citrus Bowl loss comes after the Nittany Lions struggled with drops and separation all year.
Penn State head football coach James Franklin announced today wide receivers coach David Corley has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately.
"I appreciate David's efforts this season but feel it is in our program's best interest to make a change at this time. I wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future," Franklin said.
Franklin will immediately begin a national search for Corley's replacement.
Corley originally was hired to coach running backs, but was bumped to receivers after James Franklin was able to hire Ja'Juan Seider as RB coach. By our unofficial count, Penn State receivers dropped 39 passes in 2018 and the bowl game.
