Jarvis Miller is the latest Nittany Lion to announce his transfer out of the program. The redshirt junior linebacker will head to UMass to play his final season of college football with the Minutemen.
Miller, a one time three-star safety recruit out of Suffield, Conn. made the switch to linebacker prior to the 2017 season, and served as a backup on the outside the last two years. With the arrival of players like Lance Dixon and Brandon Smith in the 2019 recruiting class, plus the likes of Jan Johnson, Micah Parsons, Ellis Brooks, Jesse Luketa, and Cam Brown returning this fall, playing time once again appeared to be sparse.
Including Miller, nine Nittany Lions that were on the opening day roster in September have confirmed their intent to transfer. Those include Sterling Jenkins (Duquense), Isaiah Humphries (Cal), Ayron Monroe (undecided), Juwan Johnson (undecided), Dae'lun Darien (undecided), Brelin Faison-Walden (Charlotte), Brandon Polk (undecided), and Zech McPhearson (undecided). Three additional players, Lamont Wade, Alex Gellerstedt, and Danny Dalton, have entered their names into the NCAA Transfer Portal, but have yet to announce their intentions. Players in the Transfer Portal have the option to return to their current school.
Based on the Roar Lions Roar Scholarship Grid, 73 scholarship players remain on the roster. That number includes the 19 member 2019 recruiting class, but does not include names that have confirmed in the Transfer Portal.
