The Nittany Lions filled the last open slot on both their 2022 and 2023 football schedules on Wednesday. The Ohio Bobcats will return to Happy Valley on Sept. 10, 2022 and the UMass Minutemen will visit Beaver Stadium Nov. 11, 2023.

Ohio's visit will mark the seventh all time game between the two programs, and the first since 2012. The Bobcats upset Penn State in Bill O'Brien's Nittany Lion debut 24-14. That marked the program's first ever win over the Nittany Lions. UMass will return to Beaver Stadium for just the second time after falling 48-7 in 2014.

Penn State will travel to Auburn the week after facing Ohio before returning home to face Central Michigan to round out the 2022 non-conference schedule. The season will open in Ross-Ade Stadium against the Boilermakers.

The 2023 season opens with West Virginia's first trip to Beaver Stadium since 1991, as well as a week two matchup with Delaware. The Big Ten schedule will open with a trip to Illinois in week three. Prior to today's announcement, the Nittany Lions had two open weeks (Sept. 30 and Nov. 11).

The UMass deal also includes a home-and-home series in basketball. The Nittany Lions will head to Amherst during the 2021-22 season, and host the Minutemen the following year.
