Former Penn State offensive lineman Alex Gellerstedt has announced he will transfer to the University of Virginia.

Gellerstedt committed to the Nittany Lion in May of 2015, and arrived on campus the following January as an early enrollee. Expected to be a long term project, he redshirted his first year on campus before playing in seven games in 2017. He was unable to keep that momentum going into 2018, appearing in just one game during the just completed season

The 6'6, 311 pound lineman will be eligible to play immediately for the Cavaliers as a graduate transfer and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

With his commitment, only Juwan Johnson, Brandon Polk, Lamont Wade, Ayron Monroe, and Zech McPhearson are still looking for new homes via the NCAA Transfer Portal. Danny Dalton (Boston College)Jarvis Miller (UMass), Isaiah Humphries (Cal), Brelin Faison-Walden (Charlotte), Torrence Brown (Southern Miss.), Dae'Lun Darien (Delaware), and Sterling Jenkins (Duquesne) had all previously announced their next destinations.

Best of luck, Alex!
