Defensive graduate assistant Matt Fleischacker is moving on from Penn State after being named the outside linebackers coach at FCS Mercer.

Fleischacker first joined the Penn State staff back in 2012 under then-head coach Bill O'Brien as an undergraduate student assistant, where he remained until his graduation in 2016. He then joined the Appalachian State coaching staff as a defensive graduate assistant. After just one season in Boone, he returned to Happy Valley to fill the same role.
The Penn State defense put together two fantastic seasons with Fleischacker on staff, finishing with the conference's second and fourth best scoring defenses, respectively. Working closely with Brent Pry, Fleischacker got to learn the coaching ropes from one of the best defensive coordinators and linebacker coaches in the game today.
Located in Macon, Georgia and playing in the Southern Conference, Mercer finished the 2018 season with a 5-6 record, allowing about 32.5 points per game. They will play one game against an FBS-level opponent this season, traveling to UNC in their final game of the season.
Best of luck, Matt!
